Butternut soup

We can’t help but to think of a warm bowl of homemade butternut soup when looking for a quick, hearty and healthy meal this cold season. It’s an incredibly easy-to-make meal that’s filling and delicious 😋.  Serve the soup with rosemary and sage flatbread or croutons, and enjoy as a lunch time meal or starter.

Butternut soup recipe


1 tbsp Butter

2 Medium Onions roughly chopped

2 Cloves Garlic roughly chopped

1 tsp Nutmeg

1 kg Butternut peeled & chopped

1 tbsp Cinnamon 

1 tsp Brown sugar

1 ltr Chicken Stock

250 ml Cream

Salt and Black Pepper for seasoning 



Ready in 35 minutes

In a large pot melt the butter and fry the onions, garlic and nutmeg until just soft.

Add the butternut, cinnamon, sugar and chicken stock then bring to the boil. Allow to simmer for about 30 minutes or until the butternut is soft.

Remove from heat and blend until smooth.

Stir in the cream and season to taste with salt and pepper. Enjoy!
